Our Mission 

Simple solutions for a healthier Wellesley.

​Sustainable Wellesley is an all-volunteer, nonprofit mobilizing the residents, visitors, businesses, and the Town of Wellesley to: reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect the Town’s air, land, and water, preserve biodiversity, eliminate waste, and champion environmental justice.

 

More than 6,000 folks like you engage with each other at events, through our newsletter, and on Facebook, or Instagram to help make Wellesley a more sustainable town.  Feel free to contact us and share your ideas.  Support our mission! - volunteer any of your skills or interests to get more involved.

Sustainable Wellesley is a group of volunteers that encourage the actions required for sustainability in Wellesley and the surrounding area.  Our events and campaigns -- from Festivals, movie nights, lectures, workshops, panel discussions, campaigns, outreach and more --  promote learning and encourage action.

A Little History
 

Sustainable Wellesley is a group of volunteers (NOT part of the Town government),
founded in 2008 by Scott, under the name of “The Power of One”.  Over the years

we have grown significantly, changed our name to Sustainable Wellesley, and

created dozens of events and campaigns including; Festivals, movie nights,

lectures, workshops, panel discussions, campaigns, outreach, and we even took

100 locals to New York to stand for climate action. Sustainable Wellesley is

the parent group for Wellesley Green Schools, and very proud to be part

of the fabric of this community.

Sustainable Wellesley is open to diverse backgrounds and ideas so let us know what you are interested in (I.e. teaching a class on canning, repurposing clothes or native gardening; showing off your waste reducing tips and tricks; inspiring others to electrify their home, lawn care and or cars).
